Integrated Design since 1977

SSP AG (formerly known as SchürmannSpannel Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH) looks back at 40 years of success. Today SSP AG  is one of the leading Integrated Design studios in Germany . The headquarters is based in Bochum (Germany) with more offices located in Karlsruhe (Germany).

SSP AG  currently employs approximately 150 specialists from different disciplines.

In national and international competitions SSP AG  has won more than 40 prices and a number of awards for its exemplary architecture and innovative working methods. So far more than 1,400 projects of varying building types and sizes were successfully completed.

The company was founded in 1977 as SchürmannSpannel Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH by the engineers Friedrich Schürmann und Helmut Spannel in Bochum (Germany). In 2002, to simplify a generational change, the company´s legal status was changed into the stock corporation SSP AG. SSP is the short form for SchürmannSpannel, honouring the founders.

The leaderboard of SSP AG is headed by the architects Matthias Kraemer (managing director) and Thomas Schmidt (chairman).

Supervisory board

The Supervisory Board of SSP AG consists of three persons. The Supervisory Board is chaired by Dr. Hans-Gert Bovelett, lawyer and senior partner of the Düsseldorf law firm Orth Kluth. He is an experienced expert in construction and real estate law. He is complemented by Jun. Prof. Dr.-Ing. architect Jutta Albus. She has been a professor at the TU Dortmund since April 2017 her work concentrates on the development of innovative planning methods that achieve a high design potential through efficient manufacturing technologies leading to ecologically, technically and economically high-quality solutions in construction, and Jens Trompeter, managing partner of the IT company Conciso GmbH.

Executive board

Dipl.-Ing. architect Matthias Kraemer has been head of the company since 1999 and was director of Schürmann-Spannel Planungsgesellschaft mbH until 2002. After the company went public in 2002, he became company director and has been managing director of SchürmannSpannel AG since 2013.

Dipl.-Ing. architect Thomas Schmidt has been an authorised statutory representative of the company (Prokurist) and head of Integrated Planning at SSP AG since 2000 and joined the executive board in 2013. He has been lecturing on architecture at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts since 1996.

Partners

Architects Matthias Kraemer, Thomas Schmidt, Matthias Solbach, Marius Scheffer, Stefan Bielefeld, Guido Handschmann, Frank Köller, Thorsten Lage and mechanical engineer Heiner Blum all became partners after many years of working for the company.
